colors but when I was younger, I dressed like a Crayola 64-pack. I LOVED bright colors, glitter, sequins, you name it. Although, i cant (or wont) wear some of those things anymore, I do still like bright colors whenever and however I can fit them in.
Have you seen that new Snapchat filter, the one with the neon cat ears and glasses? I took a photo with that yesterday and I got inspired to create an eye shadow look with a bunch of neon summer colors. I had so much fun with it! I might not wear this to work but it's definitely a party or day trip look-music festival, anyone?
So I wanted to share with you guys how I messed around and created this look. Again, I'm no makeup artist but I took a few pictures to show you how I did this sunset eye shadow look I came up with.
So as usual, any time you're doing a colorful look, you should start by covering your lids with a white base to make the colors pop. I started with NYX jumbo pencil in milk. As an afterthought, I also scotch taped the outer corners of my eyes as a guide-it may seem silly but it seems to work for me.
Beginning at the inner corner, I took the baby pink from the NYX Adorable palette and packed it on. Next, I took the hot pink from the Ultimate Brights palette (1) by NYX and packed it over the rest of my lid. Last, I used a deep purple single eye shadow from Kiss NY Pro Cosmetics called African Violet and built it up to my desired intensity on my outer v.
Fluffy brush. Blend blend blend to get that ombre fade!
To add some more depth, I took some of the lighter purple (3) from the Brights palette and used a fluffy brush to sweep that into my crease and up towards my brow bone. Honestly, I don't know if i did this part right but it looked okay.
CAREFULLY line your lower lid with a white pencil (I used my NYX Jumbo Pencil again). Pop a bright yellow (2) onto the inner third of your lid and take some more of that deep purple and put it on the outer part. Blend!
(You can take off your tape now!) All thats left at this point is liner and lashes-I used E.L.F. liquid liner in Black and then put Marc Jacobs O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara in Blacquer (totally worth the $26!) on my lashes. You can stop here if you are blessed with long lashes but i added some falsies for some extra cuteness.
From here, clean up any excess and fallout and go about your face and brow routine as usual. This eye look is so colorful, I highly suggest pairing it with a nude lip, otherwise it's a little much.
I love love love when I somehow manage to pull off eye shadow like this because if I'm being honest, it doesn't always turn out well for me. (#RaccoonEyes) I'm definitely going to try experimenting a little more with the Ultimate Brights palette and see what other outlandish looks I can create.
What do you think? Do you like bright colors like this? What colors would you pair?
