Happy Tuesday!

Can you believe November is almost over? I can...I have a November's worth of laundry waiting for me at home. The STRUGGLE.

On less depressing fronts, I got a new shadow palette! Correction, it's not new, but new to me. I recently bought the BH Cosmetics Take Me Back To Brazil eyeshadow palette and I may or not have been raving about it on my Instagram. For good reason! I haven't done a review on a palette in a while, so in this post I'm going to share my thoughts on it-spoiler alert, I LOVE IT. Keep reading to find out why!

Packaging

Outer Packaging:
  • The outside of this package is absolutely gorgeous. I loved seeing a beautiful brown girl splashed across the front. The flip-cover opening is pretty par for the course with BH Cosmetics palettes.
  • Normally I don't like to travel with palettes that don't clasp, but this one isn't huge so it may travel okay if packed well.
Shadow Pans:
  • Some people might complain that the shadow pans on this palette are very small. They are, but I want you to take something into consideration: are you wearing flashy eyeshadow looks every single day of your ever-lovin life? More than likely, you won't hit pan on the majority of these colors by the time it's recommended to toss it. (Makeup DOES expire-did you know that? Check the back or the bottom for the recommended time to throw it away!)
  • This is especially true for beginners or people who don't wear makeup every day-like me. I personally am very glad that the pans are so small because I feel like I'll be getting my money's worth out of it. I would rather a larger range of colors with smaller pans for more experimentation.
Mirror
  • It has one! Always a plus in a palette.

BH Cosmetics Take Me Back To Brazil Swatches Loveberri
 Color Range
In my humble opinion, this palette includes a fantastic variation of brights that a lot of other palettes don't seem to have. The NYX Ultimate Brights Palette was my favorite colored palette for a long time, however, even with 16 shades, I sometimes found myself at a loss for a specific color. BH Cosmetics did a great job of including a wide and versatile range of colors in this palette.

Payoff
  • Swatches on bare skin weren't extraordinarily vivid but considering that I do have a deeper skin tone, they showed up fairly well. With a white base, they showed up just fine.
  • I did find myself having to layer on additional color maybe an hour or two into putting on my makeup. (Sidebar: I was looking to get the colors to show up very well in a photograph and I wasn't working with the best lighting. In real life, I probably wouldn't be using QUITE so much color.)

Fallout
  • I feel like any time you work with colors that you'll be packing on, you're going to have fallout since you're purposefully picking up a lot of pigment. I did have a fair bit of fallout on my lashes for the neon rainbow look I worked on, but to be fair I was picking up loads of shadow on my brush.
  • With a fluffy tapered brush where I was using light amounts, I had no fallout.

Texture:
  • Unpopular opinion, I feel like the texture of an eyeshadow isn't that important as long as the color picks up well. We buy eyeshadow to put on our eyes, not rub our fingers in all day. (Unless that IS what you buy yours for, in which case I will ask no questions. You do you. No judgement.)
  • Nevertheless, the texture of these shadows is very smooth to the touch and they glide right onto the the lid. They also blend very easily, which is great when you're a beginner.

I used this palette for the makeup look below and honestly, it's my favorite so far.

(Excuse the dramatic pose. I know it looks dumb but in my defense, my eyes were closed so I couldn't actually see myself. #excuses)

All in all, I think this palette is spot-on for the target market it was made for. It includes a wide range of colors in small amounts for a very reasonable price; in other words, this is the perfect palette for someone who wants to experiment with colors but doesn't want to drop a ton of money. (A.K.A. me.) I'm C̶O̶M̶P̶L̶E̶T̶E̶L̶Y̶ ̶O̶B̶S̶E̶S̶S̶E̶D̶ very pleased with this palette!

Based on this review, will you be picking up the Take Me Back To Brazil palette? It is December-this is a GREAT Christmas present for makeup lovers!
Thanks for reading!
